Published in partnership with Reforestinig Scotland with support from Ecology Center, Sherwood Useful Adresses (p107-p116) x2 The book examines the diverse problems facing forests in Europe, from the direct destruction of ancient ecosystems, to the proliferation of ecologically impoverished plantations, and the effects of road-building, pollution and climate change. It also looks at Europe's role in the global timber trade, the existing forest policy in the EU, and the effect of deforestation on an urbanised society increasingly disconnected from nature. The chapters are illustrated by case studies written by over thirty activists and campaigners from throughout Europe.
