Ne le konservativni krogi, tudi neoliberalne opcije promovirajo dru\u017eino, saj je nujna alternativa socialni dr\u017eavi in pomeni prihranek pri skrbstvenem delu in ekonomski varnosti. Dru\u017eina pa je, paradoksalno, kljub pozivu k odpravi dru\u017eine v Komunisti\u010dnem manifestu, sveta celo za socialiste, saj si ne upajo drezati v temeljno vrednoto delavskega razreda. Ni pa dru\u017eina najbolj pogosta oblika organizacije \u017eivljenja &#8211; kakor pravita Barrett in McIntosh, kljub takemu vtisu in medijski promociji te oblike skupnostnega \u017eivljenja, je bilo gospodinjstev tipa mama-o\u010de-otrok\/ci \u017ee leta 1982 v Veliki Britaniji zgolj tretjina. Najbolj natan\u010dna in glasna kritika samoumevnosti dru\u017eine je morala priti s strani tistih teoreti\u010dark, ki so preu\u010devale tla\u010deno pozicijo \u017eensk v tem odnosu \u2013 s strani feminizma torej. Kritika dru\u017eine je za feminizem nujna posledica njegovega detektiranja opresije \u00bbrazreda \u017eensk\u00ab (Delphy), saj se ravno v dru\u017einskem odnosu \u017eenska podrejenost zelo natan\u010dno manifestira. Kritika dru\u017eine pa je zaradi velikega odpora in sentimenta, povezanega z realnimi potrebami, ki jih izpolnjujemo v dru\u017einskih odnosih, po drugi strani ena izmed glavnih krivk za nepriljubljenost feminizma.
